Pedestrians Struck In Separate Hit-Run Crashes In Jersey Shore Town

Two separate hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians being struck took place within hours of each other on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Manchester Township.

The Manchester Township Police Department is actively investigating both incidents, urging the public's assistance in identifying the vehicles and drivers involved.

At 12:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to Northampton Boulevard near the exit of Silverwoods Independent Living in response to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. The victim, 71-year-old Daniel Beatty, of Manchester, was struck by a vehicle described as an older grey or silver model Chevrolet pick-up truck.

Beatty sustained injuries to his head and left hand, and he was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Later the same day, at 7:52 p.m., another crash involving a pedestrian took place at the intersection of State Highway 37 and Bone Hill Road. A pedestrian, 59-year-old Mark Bryan, of Manchester, was struck by a vehicle described as a dark-colored, possibly blue, Hyundai SUV.

Bryan sustained injuries to the right side of his body, specifically his leg, shoulder, elbow, and foot. He was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information into the identity of the involved vehicles or operators of either crash is urged to contact Manchester Township Police Department. Both crashes are being investigated by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
